Chango B:

DJ Chango B is a twenty-seven year old Optimistic crewmember known to many North Bay party people. But Chango B is known better to friends and family as, Bryce Williams. A west Sonoma county native, Bryce's involvement with music and culture came from a very different angle than most who enter the DJ world.

At age six Bryce began break dancing, an art of street dancing that evolved as part of the hip-hop movement that originated among youths in the South Bronx during the 1970's. He continued "breaking" through high school, winning various local competitions and teaming up with other break crews in the area. His experience was vast prior to meeting the Optimistic crew in 2002.

Having an extremely knowledgeable background in all pop music from the 80's and 90's, Bryce's strongest influences were Afrika Bambaataa, Kraftwerk, Jam Master Jay and Grand Master Flash. A true B-Boy at heart, Bryce picked up the art of DJ-ing at lighting speed. Within just a couple months of fiddling around in his bedroom, he was rocking clubs with a heavy party time sound that his audiences fell for.

Bryce's energy behind the decks is electric as he moves through different genres at warp speed, cutting and scratching nearly the whole time. Being a mash-up kid, don't be surprised if you hear a Johnny Cash song with a break beat behind it.

Bryce carries this unique sound all throughout the Bay Area, working crowds into sweaty puddles of dance floor bliss. Holding down residencies all over the county, he works hard to keep you on the floor, shivering and shaking. Just when you think you've had enough of this man, he'll come out from behind the decks and bust a move in your face!
